Sundar Rajan Department of ECE, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore 560012, India Abstract In our recent work, we reported an exhaustive study on the simulated bit error rate (BER) performance of a low-complexity likelihood ascent search (LAS) algorithm for detection in large multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with large number of antennas that achieve high spectral efficiencies. Though the algorithm was shown to achieve increasingly closer to near maximum-likelihood (ML) performance through simulations, no BER analysis was reported. Here, we extend our work on LAS and report an asymptotic BER analysis of the LAS algorithm in the large system limit, where Nt, Nr → ∞ with Nt = Nr, where Nt and Nr are the number of transmit and receive antennas. We prove that the error performance of the LAS detector in V-BLAST with 4-QAM in i.i.d. Rayleigh fading converges to that of the ML detector as Nt, Nr → ∞.

Performance of Target Detection in Phased-MIMO Radars
In this paper, the problem of target detection in phased-MIMO radars is considered and target detection performance of phased-MIMO radars is compared with MIMO and phased-array radars. Phased-MIMO radars combine advantages of the MIMO and phased-array radars. In these radars, the transmit array will be partitioned into a number of subarrays that are allowed to overlap and each subarray transmit...
متن کاملA Random-List Based LAS Algorithm for Near-Optimal Detection in Large-Scale Uplink Multiuser MIMO Systems
Massive Multiple-input Multiple-output (MIMO) systems offer exciting opportunities due to their high spectral efficiencies capabilities. On the other hand, one major issue in these scenarios is the high-complexity detectors of such systems. In this work, we present a low-complexity, near maximumlikelihood (ML) performance achieving detector for the uplink in large MIMO systems with tens to hund...
متن کاملA Soft-Input Soft-Output Target Detection Algorithm for Passive Radar
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel scheme for multi-static passive radar processing, based on soft-input soft-output processing and Bayesian sparse estimation. In this scheme, each receiver estimates the probability of target presence based on its received signal and the prior information received from a central processor. The resulting posterior target probabilities are transmitted to the c...
متن کاملA TWO-STAGE DAMAGE DETECTION METHOD FOR LARGE-SCALE STRUCTURES BY KINETIC AND MODAL STRAIN ENERGIES USING HEURISTIC PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION
In this study, an approach for damage detection of large-scale structures is developed by employing kinetic and modal strain energies and also Heuristic Particle Swarm Optimization (HPSO) algorithm. Kinetic strain energy is employed to determine the location of structural damages. After determining the suspected damage locations, the severity of damages is obtained based on variations of modal ...
متن کاملHigh-Rate Space-Time Coded Large MIMO: Low-Complexity Detection and Channel Estimation
In this paper, we present a low-complexity algorithm for detection in high-rate, non-orthogonal space-time block coded (STBC) large MIMO systems that achieve high spectral efficiencies of the order of tens of bps/Hz. We also present a training-based iterative detection/channel estimation scheme for such large STBC MIMO systems. Our simulation results show that excellent bit error rate and nearn...
